Boarding Modalities

LCL (Less than a Container Load)

PIER TO PIER = CFS/CFS

When to use: This modality is chosen when there is no need to use the full capacity of the container. In this operation, the container is UNLOADED at the terminal and the loads are delivered to different companies.

For bureaucratic purposes, it is important to pay attention to the packaging used in the operation, which can be PALLET, BOXES, BARRELS, PLATE or CRATES made of different materials.

HOUSE TO PIER = CY/CFS

When to use: when the exporter uses the entire capacity of the container, but the goods have different consignees. Therefore, when the container arrives at the port terminal, the cargo is deunited and each merchandise is transported to its final destination.

FULL CONTAINER LOAD (FCL)

HOUSE TO HOUSE = CY/CY

When to use: The goods destined for the importer have occupied the entire capacity of the container. In another words, the container leaves the origin full and is taken to the company that imported it, after that the container must be returned to its owner through the CONTAINER RETURN TERM.

For bureaucratic purposes, it is necessary to be aware about the container information (CONTAINER NUMBER, SEAL, TARE) and, of course, what is inside it and its packaging.

PIER TO HOUSE (FCL) = CFS/CY

When to use: This modality is used when there are several exporters in the operation that will consolidate one container, but only one consignee will receive it and then return it by signing the CONTAINER RETURN TERM.

MODALIDADES ESPECIAIS

BB (BREAK BULK) = ITEM DE CARGA: SOLTA

When to use: Break Bulk is the case of goods that by their nature cannot be packed, for example a speedboat, it does not fit inside a container and does not leave the factory in a package. The operation to transport it is called Break Bulk, also widely used for bulk cargo.

ROLL ON ROLL OFF

When to use: Also called RO-RO, it is a boarding modality for transporting cars, vans, trucks, buses and even planes and helicopters. Unlike conventional transport, inside containers, in this modality cars enter and leave the ship running.
